Constraints on primordial power spectrum from galaxy luminosity functions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2020
We derive constraints on primordial power spectrum, for the first time, from galaxy UV luminosity functions (LFs) at high redshifts. Since the galaxy LFs reflect an underlying halo mass function which depends on primordial fluctuations, one can constrain primordial power spectrum, particularly on small scales.

Co-orbiting satellite galaxy structures are still in conflict with the distribution of primordial dwarf galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Both major galaxies in the Local Group host planar distributions of co-orbiting satellite galaxies, the Vast Polar Structure (VPOS) of the Milky Way and the Great Plane of Andromeda (GPoA).

Primordial Galaxy Formation and IGM Reionization

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2002
In this talk I will present a model for primordial galaxy formation. In particular, I will review the feedback effects that regulate the process: (i) radiative (i.e. ionizing and H_2-photodissociating photons) and (ii) stellar (i.e. SN explosions) feedback produced by massive stars.

Galaxy-CMB and galaxy-galaxy lensing on large scales: Sensitivity to primordial non-Gaussianity

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2009
A convincing detection of primordial non-Gaussianity in the local form of the bispectrum, whose amplitude is given by the fNL parameter, offers a powerful test of inflation. In this paper we calculate the modification of two-point cross-correlation statistics of weak lensing - galaxy-galaxy lensing and galaxy-Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) cross ...

Galaxy bias and primordial non-Gaussianity: insights from galaxy formation simulations with IllustrisTNG [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2020
We study the impact that large-scale perturbations of (i) the matter density and (ii) the primordial gravitational potential with local primordial non-Gaussianity (PNG) have on galaxy formation using the IllustrisTNG model. We focus on the linear galaxy bias $b_1$ and the coefficient $b_ϕ$ of the scale-dependent bias induced by PNG, which describe the ...

Suppression of small baryonic structures due to a primordial magnetic field

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the impact of the existence of a primordial magnetic field on the filter mass, characterizing the minimum baryonic mass that can form in dark matter (DM) haloes.

Old high-redshift galaxies and primordial density fluctuation spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We have discovered a population of extremely red galaxies at $z\simeq 1.5$ which have apparent stellar ages of $\gs 3$ Gyr, based on detailed spectroscopy in the rest-frame ultraviolet. In order for galaxies to have existed at the high collapse redshifts

Hierarchical merger of primordial black holes in dwarf galaxies

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2022
Abstract We study the merger history of primordial black holes (PBHs) in a scenario where they represent the dominant dark matter component of a typical dwarf galaxies' core. We investigate the possibility of a sequence of collisions resulting in a hierarchical merger of black holes, and look at the final mass spectrum in such clusters ...

JWST NIRSpec Spectroscopy of the Remarkable Bright Galaxy GHZ2/GLASS-z12 at Redshift 12.34

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We spectroscopically confirm the M _UV = −20.5 mag galaxy GHZ2/GLASS-z12 to be at redshift z = 12.34. The source was selected via NIRCam photometry in GLASS-JWST Early Release Science data, providing the first evidence of a surprising abundance of bright

Stellar-reddening-based Extinction Maps for Cosmological Applications

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Cosmological surveys must correct their observations for the reddening of extragalactic objects by Galactic dust. Existing dust maps, however, have been found to have spatial correlations with the large-scale structure of the Universe.
