CAD-CAE methods to support restoration and museum exhibition of bronze statues: the “Principe Ellenistico” [PDF]
Ancient bronze statues mainly require material integrity assessment and restoration. Restoration may include also the update of the museum exhibition, defining new structural frames and fragment re-composition to preserve the statue and improve the ...

Development and application of pneumatic hollow cylinder apparatus with four-direction dynamic loads
Only the torque can be dynamically controlled in the traditional hollow cylinder apparatus, and the dynamic shear tests can be carried out. The existing hollow cylinder apparatus is modified to have the four-direction vibration capability, including ...

The use of the hollow cylinder apparatus to study stress paths relevant to railway track foundations [PDF]
This paper presents and discusses results from a series of hollow cylinder tests, carried out to investigate the effects of principal stress rotation on the resilient response of soils in stress paths relevant to railway track foundations. Four sand-clay

Modes of ocean variability in the tropical Pacific as derived from Geosat altimetry [PDF]
Satellite-derived (Geosat altimetry) sea surface height anomalies for the period November 1986 to September 1989 were investigated in order to extract the dominant modes of climate variability in the tropical Pacific.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A preliminary case study of the effect of shoe-wearing on the biomechanics of a horse’s foot [PDF]
Horse racing is a multi-billion-dollar industry that has raised welfare concerns due to injured and euthanized animals. Whilst the cause of musculoskeletal injuries that lead to horse morbidity and mortality is multifactorial, pre-existing pathologies ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
