Transparency upon request: the right to pay information and the gender pay gap
Abstract Pay transparency measures are widely adopted policy instruments to decrease the gender pay gap. This paper studies a policy that grants access to wage information only upon request, analysing a German pay transparency law that grants workers the right to request information about the earnings of colleagues in comparable positions.

Spatial productivity disparities in Great Britain
We study productivity disparities across metropolitan and non‐metropolitan areas in Great Britain. Spatial disparities in productivity are large and persistent. Using a development accounting framework, we show that differences in area size and in the spatial distribution of human and business capital are key explanatory factors.

Sick leave in the United Kingdom Post Office, 1850–1908
Abstract This paper uses a large individual‐record‐level dataset on sick leave to examine adult morbidity in the United Kingdom between 1850 and 1908. From 1859 onwards postal workers were eligible to receive a pension or gratuity when they retired or were forced to stop working due to ill health.
