Mathematical Framework for Mixed Reservation- and Priority-Based Traffic Coexistence in 5G NR Systems

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
Fifth-generation (5G) New Radio (NR) systems are expected to support multiple traffic classes including enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), and massive machine-type communications (mMTC) at the same air ...

Branching Random Walks with One Particle Generation Center and Possible Absorption at Every Point

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
We consider a new model of a branching random walk on a multidimensional lattice with continuous time and one source of particle reproduction and death, as well as an infinite number of sources in which, in addition to the walk, only the absorption of ...

Circular functional analysis of OCT data for precise identification of structural phenotypes in the eye

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Progressive optic neuropathies such as glaucoma are major causes of blindness globally. Multiple sources of subjectivity and analytical challenges are often encountered by clinicians in the process of early diagnosis and clinical management of these ...

Quantum probabilities as Bayesian probabilities [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2002
In the Bayesian approach to probability theory, probability quantifies a degree of belief for a single trial, without any a priori connection to limiting frequencies. In this paper we show that, despite being prescribed by a fundamental law, probabilities for individual quantum systems can be understood within the Bayesian approach.

Generalised block bootstrap and its use in meteorology [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Statistical Climatology, Meteorology and Oceanography, 2017
In an earlier paper, Rakonczai et al.(2014) emphasised the importance of investigating the effective sample size in case of autocorrelated data. The simulations were based on the block bootstrap methodology.

Personal probabilities of probabilities [PDF]

open access: yesTheory and Decision, 1975
By definition, the subjective probability distribution of a random event is revealed by the (‘rational’) subject's choice between bets — a view expressed by F. Ramsey, B. De Finetti, L. J. Savage and traceable to E. Borel and, it can be argued, to T. Bayes.
