Entropy of Simulated Liquids Using Multiscale Cell Correlation

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Accurately calculating the entropy of liquids is an important goal, given that many processes take place in the liquid phase. Of almost equal importance is understanding the values obtained.

A New Approach To Estimate The Collision Probability For Automotive Applications

open access: yes, 2020
We revisit the computation of probability of collision in the context of automotive collision avoidance (the estimation of a potential collision is also referred to as conflict detection in other contexts).

Measured quantum probability distribution functions for Brownian motion

open access: yes, 2007
The quantum analog of the joint probability distributions describing a classical stochastic process is introduced. A prescription is given for constructing the quantum distribution associated with a sequence of measurements.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Probability distribution of the conductance at the mobility edge

open access: yes, 1999
Distribution of the conductance P(g) at the critical point of the metal-insulator transition is presented for three and four dimensional orthogonal systems. The form of the distribution is discussed. Dimension dependence of P(g) is proven.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Normalization, probability distribution, and impulse responses [PDF]

open access: yes
When impulse responses in dynamic multivariate models such as identified VARs are given economic interpretations, it is important that reliable statistical inferences be provided.

Quantum correlations and secret bits

open access: yes, 2005
It is shown that (i) all entangled states can be mapped by single-copy measurements into probability distributions containing secret correlations, and (ii) if a probability distribution obtained from a quantum state contains secret correlations, then ...

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...
