On computing ruin probabilities

open access: yes, 2017
The objective of this thesis is to develop for an effective numerical scheme to calculate the finite-time ruin probabilities (equivalently the finite-time survival probabilities) under classical risk model. Ruin theory of this model has been widely studied in literatures especially those related to ruin probabilities.

Dielectric‐Confinement‐Induced in‐Plane Photoelectric Anisotropy in Isotropic Quasi‐1D γ‐GaS Nanoribbon

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate the geometry‐governed optoelectronic anisotropy arising from dielectric confinement in quasi‐1D γ‐GaS nanoribbons with intrinsically isotropic atomic structures. Dielectric mismatch between the nanoribbon and its surroundings leads to a general polarization‐dependent photoresponse during near‐field scattering.

Sub‐Terahertz Memristor Switches Using MoS2 by Liquid–Liquid Interface Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces application‐ready sub‐terahertz memristor switches fabricated from electrochemically exfoliated MoS2 nanosheets assembled at a liquid–liquid interface. The devices exhibit robust unipolar resistive switching, low insertion loss, and high isolation across 10–110 GHz.

Extension of the Risk Model From a Hawkes Variable Memory Process via the Spearman Copula

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics
The ultimate ruin probability of an insurance company throughout its operating life remains and continues to be a major and very complex concern for the latter.

Dividend Problems in the Diffusion Model with Interest and Exponentially Distributed Observation Time

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
Consider dividend problems in the diffusion model with interest and exponentially distributed observation time where dividends are paid according to a barrier strategy.

Resistant Peanut Genotype Reprograms Rhizosphere Metabolism to Enhance Bacterial Wilt Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The resistant peanut genotype selectively recruits beneficial bacteria, which coincides with the activation of salicylic acid (SA)‐dependent systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against Ralstonia solanacearum. Keystone rhizosphere metabolites are positively correlated with both beneficial microbiome assembly and SAR gene expression.

Dynamic Proportional Reinsurance and Approximations for Ruin Probabilities in the Two-Dimensional Compound Poisson Risk Model

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2012
We consider the dynamic proportional reinsurance in a two-dimensional compound Poisson risk model. The optimization in the sense of minimizing the ruin probability which is defined by the sum of subportfolio is being ruined.

Learning Moisture‐Induced Damage From Vision: Diffusion Models for Real‐Time Monitoring of Additive Manufacturing Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce a vision‐based real‐time monitoring system for additive manufacturing that detects subtle moisture‐induced degradation via a diffusion model‐based framework. The approach enables nondestructive assessment of moisture‐induced damage level and mechanical performance and establishes a practical route toward more intelligent, reliable, and ...

A Ceramic Network for Hybrid Solid Electrolyte Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An in‐plane aligned Ta‐LLZO ceramic network exhibits superior performance compared to conventional fillers, including single ceramic fibers and particles. The tortuosity within the polymeric phase of hybrid solid electrolytes is identified as a key parameter governing lithium‐ion transport pathways and dendrite suppression.
