Nonlinear neurobiological probability weighting functions for aversive outcomes [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2008
While mainstream economic models assume that individuals treat probabilities objectively, many people tend to overestimate the likelihood of improbable events and underestimate the likelihood of probable events. However, a biological account for why probabilities would be treated this way does not yet exist.

A shocking experiment [PDF]

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2007
We study whether probability weighting is observed when individuals are presented with a series of choices between lotteries consisting of real non-monetary adverse outcomes, electric shocks.

An adaptive a priori SNR estimator for perceptual speech enhancement

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing, 2019
In this paper, an adaptive averaging a priori SNR estimation employing critical band processing is proposed. The proposed method modifies the current decision-directed a priori SNR estimation to achieve faster tracking when SNR changes.

Outcome of Non-Muscle Invasive Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma Receiving Endoscopic Ablation: An Inverse Probability of Treatment Weighting Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine, 2022
We compared the outcomes in early-stage upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) patients receiving endoscopic ablation (EA) with radical nephroureterectomy (RNU). From 2004 to 2018, cTa/T1N0M0 UTUC patients undergoing EA and RNU were enrolled.

Salient Ship Detection via Background Prior and Foreground Constraint in Remote Sensing Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Automatic ship detection in complicated maritime background is a challenging task in the field of optical remote sensing image interpretation and analysis. In this paper, we propose a novel and reliable ship detection framework based on a visual saliency

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Range-Fixed Trade-Off Method: A Preference Elicitation Approach Considering the Dependence of Probability Weighting on Outcome Range

open access: yesSystems
Among existing preference elicitation methods, the trade-off method offers an advantage over others in mitigating the influence of probability weighting on preferences, as it does not require assuming a specific form for the probability weighting ...

A Combined Weighting Method Based on Hybrid of Interval Evidence Fusion and Random Sampling

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2017
Due to the complexity of system and lack of expertise, epistemic uncertainties may present in the experts’ judgment on the importance of certain indices during group decision-making.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The Least Squares Stochastic Finite Element Method in Structural Stability Analysis of Steel Skeletal Structures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2015
The main purpose of this work is to verify the influence of the weighting procedure in the Least Squares Method on the probabilistic moments resulting from the stability analysis of steel skeletal structures.
