On a derivation of the Goldstein–Einhorn probability weighting functions [PDF]

open access: yesAequationes mathematicae, 2020
AbstractThe well known Goldstein–Einhorn probability weighting functions have been characterized by Gonzalez and Wu using the linear in log odds preference condition. We provide an alternative way of deriving this class of functions. It is based on the concept of indifference prices.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Impact of renin angiotensin system inhibitor on 3-year clinical outcomes in acute myocardial infarction patients with preserved left ventricular systolic function: a prospective cohort study from Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR)

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2021
Background Patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are usually treated with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) if ACEIs are not tolerated.

A Quantum-like Model of Selection Behavior

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we introduce a new model of selection behavior under risk that describes an essential cognitive process for comparing values of objects and making a selection decision.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

A Multi-Objectives Weighting Genetic Algorithm for Scheduling Resource-Constraint Project Problem in the Presence of Resource Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Supply and Operations Management, 2019
Scarce resources may cause delay in completion of a project on time. In this research, a multi-objective decision making model is developed for scheduling multi-mode resource constraint scheduling problem in the presence of uncertain resources.

Development of a new microdosimetric biological weighting function for the RBE10 assessment in case of the V79 cell line exposed to ions from 1H to 238U

open access: yesPhysics in Medicine and Biology, 2020
An improved biological weighting function (IBWF) is proposed to phenomenologically relate microdosimetric lineal energy probability density distributions with the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) for the in vitro clonogenic cell survival ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Maintaining long-term frequent tea consumption could reduce the risk of cognitive decline: results from a 10-year longitudinal study

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundPrevious studies have suggested that tea may have neuroprotective effect. This study aimed to investigate the association between tea consumption frequency and cognitive decline, taking into account changes in consumption habits and selection ...

Alcohol‐induced altered glycans in human tracheal epithelial cells promote bacterial adhesion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Alcohol induces altered glycans to promote bacteria adhesion. Heavy alcohol drinking is known to increase the risk of bacterial pneumonia. However, the link between alcohol levels and risk of infection remains underexplored. Recently, we found that alcohol induced α2‐6sialo mucin O‐glycans in human tracheobronchial epithelial cells, which mediated the ...
