MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Learning problem-solving concepts by reflecting on problem solving [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Learning and problem solving are intimately related: problem solving determines the knowledge requirements of the reasoner which learning must fulfill, and learning enables improved problem-solving performance. Different models of problem solving, however, recognize different knowledge needs, and, as a result, set up different learning tasks.

Relevancy in Problem Solving: A Computational Framework

open access: yes, 2012
When computer scientists discuss the computational complexity of, for example, finding the shortest path from building A to building B in some town or city, their starting point typically is a formal description of the problem at hand, e.g., a graph with

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Efektivitas E-Modul Sistem Pencernaan Berbasis Problem Solving Terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah

open access: yesJIPI (Jurnal IPA dan Pembelajaran IPA), 2021
Learning during the Covid-19 pandemic has largely shifted to online learning. In response to this, it is necessary to prepare teaching materials that support online learning, one of which is the use of electronic models or e-modules.

Notes on 'perpetual question' of problem solving: how can learners best be taught problem-solving skills? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Although problem solving was a major focus of mathematics education research in many countries throughout the 1990s, not enough is known about how people best acquire problem-solving skills.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...
