PROCAINE AND PROCAINE AMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE IN SKELETAL PAIN
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1952Attempts to control the pain of joint disease and its associated syndromes have led to the use of procaine hydrochloride. It has been injected intravenously to relieve the pain of chronic arthritis, especially degenerative arthritis. The relief obtained has not been striking or long lasting. Side-reactions have been common.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Procaine in Procaine Penicillin G
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1948In a search for a rapid method for the determination of procaine in procaine penicillin G a spectrophotometric method was developed. A series of lots analyzed by the spectrophotometric method and by the chloroform extraction-titrimetric method shows comparable results. Measurements were made on a Beckman spectrophotometer at 290 mμ.

INTRACISTERNAL INJECTION OF PROCAINE
Anaesthesia, 1948SUMMARY A case of intracisternal injection of procaine, which ended fatally, is recorded. The effect of similar injections in experimental animals is considered, and the reaction of the vital centres is discussed.

The role of procaine in adverse reactions to procaine penicillin in horses
Australian Veterinary Journal, 1992SUMMARYProcaine penicillin is a commonly used antibiotic in equine medicine but its use is associated with a substantial incidence of adverse reactions. Soluble procaine concentrations were determined by HPLC in several commercially available procaine penicillin preparations, including some that were involved in adverse reactions.

The kinetics of the hydrolysis of procaine
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1950Procaine solutions are subject to hydrolytic deteriortion. In the present paper results of a chemical kinetical investigation of this reaction together with its theoretical analysis are given. It is shown that the over-all reaction is the sum of two reactions involving the free base and the singly charged ion. The activation energies have been found to

INTRAARTERIAL INJECTION OF PROCAINE
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1971In angiographic procedures, intraarterial injection of 5-10 ml. of 1 per cent procaine has been extensively used prior to withdrawal of the catheter, needle, on cannula in order to minimize arterial spasm. However, the angiographer must be aware of the possibility of cortical irritation if the procaine is injected rapidly.

This study is presented to demonstrate that sustained therapeutic levels of penicillin can be attained by relatively infrequent injections of an aqueous solution of procaine penicillin. The method used reduced the disadvantage of rapid excretion seen following injection of aqueous penicillin and the unfavorable side reactions due to vehicles such as ...
