Management of preterm pre‐labor rupture of membranes between 24 and 34 weeks: A before‐and‐after study of the implementation and modifications of an outpatient management protocol

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 5, Page 896-903, May 2026.
In women with PPROM before 34 weeks, we compared outcomes before and after implementing an outpatient management protocol. Outpatient care was offered to one‐third of patients, did not affect latency or gestational age at delivery, and was associated with fewer early neonatal infections, supporting its safety in selected cases. Dynamic Parameters within the First 72 H of ICU Admission Predict Extubation Failure and 28‐Day Mortality in Severe Pneumonia‐Induced ARDS: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 5, May 2026.
Early 72‐h dynamic changes in key physiological and laboratory parameters predict extubation failure and 28‐day mortality in severe pneumonia‐induced ARDS. Extubation failure is strongly associated with increased mortality, highlighting the clinical value of dynamic monitoring for early risk stratification in ICU patients.

Plasma procalcitonin in rheumatic diseases

open access: yesReumatismo, 2011
Data on the origin and biological function of procalcitonin, the pro-hormone of calcitonin, are scarce. Since this peptide can be induced in bacterial invasive infections, serum procalcitonin levels may be useful in differential diagnosis of systemic inflammatory response syndrome. This review will focus on the clinical significance of changes in serum

Procalcitonin Guided Antibiotic Stewardship

open access: yesBiomarker Insights
Despite infection and sepsis being a major public health challenge, early detection and timely management are often hindered by several factors. These includes the similarity of clinical presentations between infectious and non-infectious conditisons, as well as limitations of current diagnostic methods such as lengthy turnaround times and low ...
