Restorative justice as a mechanism for horizontalization of penal conflicts and recognition of victims as subjects of rights

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Direito Processual Penal, 2019
This article discusses the need to overcome the criminal procedural model based on the neutralization of the victim and the consequent expropriation of the conflict by the State, as the only formula for solving the criminal case.Focusing on this ...

The purpose of policy portfolios: design, intention, and logic

open access: yesJournal of Public Policy
We propose a qualitative method of assessing a policy mix’s content, which can be utilized alongside currently common quantitative techniques such as counting the number of tools, policies, and levels of government involved. Focussing on whether or not

High‐Spatiotemporal‐Resolution Transparent Thermoelectric Temperature Sensor Arrays Reveal Temperature‐Dependent Windows for Reversible Photothermal Neuromodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermoelectric temperature sensors are developed that directly measure heat changes during optical‐based neural stimulation with millisecond precision. The sensors reveal the temperature windows for safe reversible neural modulation: 1.4–4.5 °C enables reversible neural inhibition, while temperatures above 6.1 °C cause permanent thermal damage.

On the Brink of Virtual Extinction: Hunting and Killing Animals in Open World Video Games

open access: yesEludamos, 2018
The article focuses on the underlying structures evaluating acts of violence against different bodies in games. Taking the hunting mechanics of open-world games as its point of discussion, it looks at how game design manifests procedural arguments on the

Can We Programme Utopia? The Influence of the Digital Neoliberal Discourse on Utopian Videogames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This article has a dual purpose. The first is to establish the relationship between videogames and utopia in the neoliberal era and clarify the origins of this compromise in the theoretical dimension of game studies.

Exploiting Two‐Photon Lithography, Deposition, and Processing to Realize Complex 3D Magnetic Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two‐photon lithography (TPL) enables 3D magnetic nanostructures with unmatched freedom in geometry and material choice. Advances in voxel control, deposition, and functionalization open pathways to artificial spin ices, racetracks, microrobots, and a number of additional technological applications.

Spatially Resolved Click Patterning of Dyes on Graphene for 2D Hybrids with Regiotunable Fluorescence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Well‐structured graphene hybrid architectures featuring spatially resolved fluorescent properties represent a promising but so‐far elusive synthetic target. A robust and straightforward method for fabricating well‐organized graphene‐dye hybrid nanoassemblies through a combination of reductive patterning and conventional click chemistry is presented ...

Logic Programming Approaches for Representing and Solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems: A Comparison

open access: yes, 2000
Many logic programming based approaches can be used to describe and solve combinatorial search problems. On the one hand there is constraint logic programming which computes a solution as an answer substitution to a query containing the variables of the ...

Decision Procedures for Guarded Logics

open access: yes, 2019
An important class of decidable first-order logic fragments are those satisfying a guardedness condition, such as the guarded fragment (GF). Usually, decidability for these logics is closely linked to the tree-like model property - the fact that satisfying models can be taken to have tree-like form. Decision procedures for the guarded fragment based on
