The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Eco-efficient sea salt purification via coupled brine washing and elutriation technology: A pathway to high-purity salt for sustainable chlor-alkali industry

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges
High-purity sodium chloride (NaCl) is essential for sustainable chlor-alkali production (CAP). Impurities such as Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺ in raw rock salt accelerate electrode degradation, cause membrane fouling, and reduce the electrolysis efficiency.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Metabolic reset purification program improves antioxidant balance and gut microbiome in individuals transitioning to a healthier diet

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
A healthy diet helps transition individuals towards numerous long-term metabolic benefits but is challenging to maintain. Supplementation with additional whole food-based concentrates and herbs may support this shift by enhancing metabolic resilience ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Selective cyclohexane oxidation enhancement by electronic structures regulation of metal-poly(ionic liquid)s

open access: yesGreen Chemical Engineering
Poly(ionic liquids) (PILs) combined with the macromolecular structure and unique properties of ionic liquids show unlimited potential in catalysis. In this work, a series of metal-based PIL with different ionic ratios were prepared for the selective ...
