Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Probability Tail for Linearly Negative Quadrant Dependent Random Variables of Partial Sums and Application to Linear Model

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences, 2022
In this paper, we establish a new concentration inequality and complete convergence of weighted sums for arrays of rowwise linearly negative quadrant dependent (LNQD, in short) random variables and obtain a result dealing with complete convergence of ...

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Synthesis of layered double hydroxides: Investigating the impact of stirring conditions and reactor design parameters

open access: yesHeliyon
The synthesis by coprecipitation of Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) is governed by the stages of nucleation and crystal growth associated with the efficiency of the mixing and dispersion process of the reagents.

Influence of process variables on antimicrobial properties of cotton knitted fabrics

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2020
This work discusses the influence of process variables on antimicrobial properties of cotton single jersey knitted fabrics. The antimicrobial process variables are optimized based on the Box-Benken experimental design using design-expert software 8.0 to ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Convergence of Weighted Linear Process for ρ-Mixing Random Variables

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2007
A central limit theorem and a functional central limit theorem are obtained for weighted linear process of ρ-mixing sequences for the Xt=∑i=0∞aiYt−i, where {Yi, 0 ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Processes as variable embodiments

open access: yesSynthese
AbstractIn a number of papers, Kit Fine introduced a theory of embodiment which distinguishes between rigid and variable embodiments, and has been successfully applied to clarify the ontological nature of entities whose parts may or may not vary in time.
