The spatial Λ-Fleming–Viot process in a random environment

open access: yesThe Annals of Applied Probability, 2023
We study the large scale behaviour of a population consisting of two types which evolve in dimension d = 1, 2 according to a spatial Lambda- Fleming-Viot process subject to random time-independent selection. If one of the two types is rare compared to the other, we prove that its evolution can be approximated by a super-Brownian motion in a random (and

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Shannon Entropy Used for Feature Extractions of Optical Patterns in the Context of Structural Health Monitoring

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
A novelty signal processing method is proposed for a technical vision system (TVS). During data acquisition of an optoelectrical signal, part of this is random electrical fluctuation of voltages.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

An enhanced stochastic error modeling using multi-Gauss–Markov processes for GNSS/INS integration system

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science
Angular random walk (ARW), rate random walk (RRW), and bias instability (BI) are the main noise types in inertial measurement units (IMUs) and thus determine the navigation performance of IMUs. BI is the flicker noise, which determines the noise level of

Recurrence and Transience of Critical Branching Processes in Random Environment with Immigration and an Application to Excited Random Walks [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Probability, 2013
We establish recurrence and transience criteria for critical branching processes in random environments with immigration. These results are then applied to the recurrence and transience of a recurrent random walk in a random environment on ℤ disturbed by

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

Estimation Problems in Branching Processes with Random Environments

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1979
Estimators are given for the two main parameters of the branching process with random environments, namely, the mean of the environmental mean (the average number of offspring per individual) and the mean of the logarithm of the environmental mean. The latter parameter indicates the certain extinction or possible explosion of the process.
