Map Merging in the Context of Image Processing

open access: yes
The area of map merging is tightly connected to the area of image processing. Usually metric maps created by robots are represented as occupancy grids. It is easy to apply algorithms used in image processing to this kind of map representation.

Knowledge Visualization: A Comparative Study between Project Tube Maps and Gantt Charts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper compares the effectiveness of the Project Tube Map and the Gantt Chart for interfunctional communication in large projects where different stakeholders are involved. Today, Gantt Charts are well known in project management. However, the use of

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Hot deformation behaviors and microstructure characteristics of Cr–Mo–Ni–V steel with a banded structure

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes
On a Gleeble-3800 thermal simulator, the hot deformation behavior of Cr–Mo–Ni–V steel was studied, with the designed deformation temperature varying from 900 to 1,200°C and the strain rate in the range of 0.01–10 s−1.

Development and validation of a processing map for zirconium alloys

open access: yes, 2002
For the development of processing maps to zirconium alloys, a simple instability condition based on the Ziegler's continuum principles as applied to large plastic flow is extended for delineating the regions of unstable metal flow/occurrence of fracture ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
