Patterns of gene expression during Prochilodus scrofa (Characiformes: Prochilodontidae) embryogenesis—I. Lactate dehydrogenase

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1990
Abstract 1. 1. The patterns of expression of the lactate dehydrogenase loci in the differentiated adult tissues and in the early embryonic stages (0.8–180 hr post-fertilization) of curimbata, Prochilodus scrofa, were investigated. 2. 2.

Effect of temperature on copper toxicity and hematological responses in the neotropical fish Prochilodus scrofa at low and high pH

Aquaculture, 2006
Abstract Copper sulfate has been widely used to control algae and pathogens in fish culture ponds. However, its toxic effects on fish depend not only on its concentration in water but also on water quality. The susceptibility of the neotropical freshwater fish Prochilodus scrofa to copper was evaluated at two temperatures with low and high water pH ...

Effects of thermal stress on respiratory responses to hypoxia of a South American Prochilodontid fish, Prochilodus scrofa

Journal of Fish Biology, 1995
Oxygen consumption (V̇o2) and respiratory variables were measured in the Prochilodontid fish, Prochilodus scrofa exposed to graded hypoxia after changes in temperature. The measurements were performed on fish acclimated to 25°C and in four further groups also acclimated to 25°C and then changed to 15, 20, 30 and 35°C.

Time-course of respiratory metabolic adjustments of a South American fish, Prochilodus scrofa, exposed to low and high temperatures

Journal of Applied Ichthyology, 1998
Summary The time-course for the thermal acclimation of aerobic metabolism was determined for juvenile and adult P. scrqfa by following the modifications in oxygen consumption (O2). Fish previously acclimated at 15 and 25°C and transferred to water temperature 10°C and above, showed 3–4-fold increase in O2 in the first 6 h after the change in ...

Sensory and Chemical Evaluation of the Keeping Quality of the Brazilian Freshwater Fish Prochilodus scrofa in Ice Storage

Journal of Food Science, 1983
ABSTRACT The keeping quality of the freshwater fish Prochilodus scrofa in ice storage was investigated in two runs. Sensory evaluation of the raw fish reflected the progressive deterioration during storage.

Patterns of gene expression during Prochilodus scrofa (Characiformes, Prochilodontidae) embryogenesis—III. Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1990
Abstract 1. 1. The patterns of expression of the glucose-6-phosphate isomerase loci in the differentiated adult tissues and in the early embryonic stages (1.30–180 hr post-fertilization) of curimbata, Prochilodus scrofa, were investigated. 2. 2. As in other teleost species, two bidirectionally divergent GPI loci, GPI-A ∗ and GPI-
