Spontaneous Ischaemic Proctocolitis
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1972Twenty cases of spontaneous large bowel ischaemia, which presented during an 8-year period, are reviewed. These included one patient with involvement of the right side of the colon, and one with a recto-sigmoid lesion. The preponderance of females affected runs contrary to the usual sex incidence of generalized vascular disease.

Outbreak of glutaraldehyde-induced proctocolitis
American Journal of Infection Control, 1995An outbreak of hemorrhagic proctocolitis occurred after the introduction of 2% glutaraldehyde as a disinfectant for colonoscopes. An inadequate rinsing procedure was detected. Recent studies have pointed to glutaraldehyde as an irritant potentially capable of inducing colitis.

Digestive and Liver Disease, 2008Cow's milk protein-induced proctocolitis presents with overt rectal bleeding in otherwise healthy infants and is characterized by an eosinophilic infiltrate of the left colonic mucosa. Although it is the most common cause of proctocolitis in infancy, dietary protein-induced proctocolitis had hardly ever been reported in childhood so far.
