Sequencing inputs to a multi-product pipeline

2001 European Control Conference (ECC), 2001
This paper addresses the problem of scheduling commodities in a multi-product pipeline. It is developed an auxiliary model for the operational decision-making process. It is considered a study upon a tank farm and a pipeline connecting a refinery to a harbour. The objective is the operating cost minimisation.

A Pipeline Is a Pipeline Is a Pipeline, or Is It? Product Type, Project Differentiation, and Risk Today

Volume 1: Pipeline Safety Management Systems; Project Management, Design, Construction, and Environment
Abstract In the past ten years, many pipeline and other linear energy projects have been cancelled in North America for economic, regulatory, or social license reasons. This trend is continuing today for energy transition-related pipelines and other linear projects.

Scheduling multi-product tree-structure pipelines

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2011
The problem discussed in this paper is short-term scheduling of distribution of petroleum derivatives from a single oil refinery to a number of depots through a tree-structure pipeline. Scheduling product batches in pipelines is a very complex task with many constraints to be considered. Batches of refined products and grades are pumped back-to-back in

Opening the Production Pipeline: Unruly Creators

DiGRA Digital Library, 2005
Worlds in Play, a map of the state of play in digital games research today, illustrates the great variety and extreme contrasts in the landscape cleft by contemporary digital games research. The chapters in this volume are the work of an international review board of seventy game-study specialists from fields spanning social sciences, arts, and ...

Latency-tolerant software pipelining in a production compiler

Proceedings of the 6th annual IEEE/ACM international symposium on Code generation and optimization, 2008
In this paper we investigate the benefit of scheduling non-critical loads for a higher latency during software pipelining. "Non-critical" denotes those loads that have sufficient slack in the cyclic data dependence graph so that increasing the scheduling distance to their first use can only increase the number of stages of the software pipeline, but ...

Pipeline Transportation of Petroleum Products with No Due Dates

2002
We introduce a new model for pipeline transportation of petroleum products with no due dates. We use a directed graph G with n nodes, where arcs represent pipes and nodes represent locations. We also define a set L of r transportation orders and a subset F ? L of further orders.
