The digital production pipeline
ACM SIGGRAPH 2013 Courses, 2013It used to be about getting analogue data in and out of the digital world. Today it's about connecting those various digital worlds into a fluid creative process. While studios look to tighten budgets, minimize risk and broaden films' reach worldwide across platforms, there is no standard operating procedure for studios to produce content.

Proceedings of the ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Production Symposium, 2017
This talk presents the motivations and goals for developing the Shotgun Pipeline Toolkit (Toolkit), a platform for building, customizing, and evolving production pipelines. We cover the challenges of developing a product that is valuable for studios of all types and sizes, supports common operating systems, and is easy to use; all while providing the ...

Flexible pipeline for crowd production
ACM SIGGRAPH 2017 Talks, 2017The complexity of crowd shots can vary greatly, from simple vignetting tasks that add life to an environment, to large and complex battle sequences involving thousands of characters. For this reason, a "one size fits all" crowd solution might not be optimal, both in terms of design and usability, but also allocation of crew.

Seamless fracture in a production pipeline
ACM SIGGRAPH 2010 Talks, 2010To alleviate the laborious task of generating volumetric fracture pieces by hand while preserving the integrity of the artistically modeled shape, we develop a practical, robust, and effective solution for artistically directed volumetric fracture. Unlike previous approaches our procedural fracture system maintains intrinsic attributes (e.g., texture ...

Scheduling a multi-product pipeline network
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2013Abstract Daily some millions barrels of oil are moved around the world in imports and exports and domestically within countries. While ships are the main mode for intercontinental transport, pipelines are the chief form of transcontinental transport, while regional and local transports is performed by trains and trucks.

Sequencing inputs to a multi-product pipeline
2001 European Control Conference (ECC), 2001This paper addresses the problem of scheduling commodities in a multi-product pipeline. It is developed an auxiliary model for the operational decision-making process. It is considered a study upon a tank farm and a pipeline connecting a refinery to a harbour. The objective is the operating cost minimisation.

Volume 1: Pipeline Safety Management Systems; Project Management, Design, Construction, and Environment
Abstract In the past ten years, many pipeline and other linear energy projects have been cancelled in North America for economic, regulatory, or social license reasons. This trend is continuing today for energy transition-related pipelines and other linear projects.

Opening the Production Pipeline: Unruly Creators
DiGRA Digital Library, 2005Worlds in Play, a map of the state of play in digital games research today, illustrates the great variety and extreme contrasts in the landscape cleft by contemporary digital games research. The chapters in this volume are the work of an international review board of seventy game-study specialists from fields spanning social sciences, arts, and ...

Latency-tolerant software pipelining in a production compiler
Proceedings of the 6th annual IEEE/ACM international symposium on Code generation and optimization, 2008In this paper we investigate the benefit of scheduling non-critical loads for a higher latency during software pipelining. "Non-critical" denotes those loads that have sufficient slack in the cyclic data dependence graph so that increasing the scheduling distance to their first use can only increase the number of stages of the software pipeline, but ...

Scheduling multi-product tree-structure pipelines
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2011The problem discussed in this paper is short-term scheduling of distribution of petroleum derivatives from a single oil refinery to a number of depots through a tree-structure pipeline. Scheduling product batches in pipelines is a very complex task with many constraints to be considered. Batches of refined products and grades are pumped back-to-back in
