Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Análisis prospectivo de la base alimentaria en una lechería tropical con programación lineal

open access: yesPastos y Forrajes
El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar prospectivamente la base alimentaria de una lechería tropical, por medio de un modelo de optimización. Las variables de este modelo fueron: pasto estrella, leucaena asociada con guinea común, caña de azúcar y ...

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Corporate ownership in the TV production sector and cultural diversity: Analysis of consolidated companies and indies’ access to TV drama financing

open access: yesCommunication & Society (Formerly Comunicación y Sociedad)
With the increased international demand for TV drama and rise of global streamers as multi-territory buyers, small successful independent producers of European TV fiction have increasingly become takeaway targets for established and financially strong ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

No marginal arbitrage of the second kind for high production regimes in discrete time production-investment models with proportional transaction costs [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider a class of production-investment models in discrete time with proportional transaction costs. For linear production functions, we study a natural extension of the no-arbitrage of the second kind condition introduced by M. Rasonyi [13].

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Machine Learning Driven Design Of Experiments For Predictive Models In Production Systems

open access: yes
110118Machine learning (ML) describes the ability of algorithms to structure and interpret data independently or to learn correlations. The use of ML is steadily increasing in companies of all sizes.
