Productivity, profitability and financial performance

Industrial and Corporate Change, 2008
This work presents a comparative analysis of two crucial dimensions of firms’ performance: profitability and productivity. The characteristics of their empirical distribution and the associated degree of persistence over time are explored through a set of parametric and non-parametric exercises performed on an exhaustive panel of Italian firms, active ...

Performance prediction in production environments

Proceedings of the First Merged International Parallel Processing Symposium and Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing, 2002
Accurate performance predictions are difficult to achieve for parallel applications executing on production distributed systems. Conventional point-valued performance parameters and prediction models are often inaccurate since they can only represent one point in a range of possible behaviors. The authors address this problem by allowing characteristic

Performance Measures, Efficiency, Productivity

Neuroimaging Clinics of North America, 2012
The paradox of the increased use of imaging without obvious evidence of improved health outcomes has led to calls for payment based on value rather than volume. Measurement of radiologists' performance is a key component of the measurement of value.

State Infrastructure and Productive Performance [PDF]

open access: possibleAmerican Economic Review, 1992
The impact of public infrastructure investment on the productive performance of firms has been an important focus of the recent literature on productivity growth. The size of this impact has important implications for policymakers' decisions to invest in public capital, and productivity analysts' evaluation of productivity growth fluctuations and ...

Knowledge in Product and Performance Support

2007
The emphasis nowadays on individual information needs and personalization of content as well as the level of complexity involved in some domains necessitates the use of Knowledge Engineering approaches. In particular, product and performance support is a complex and knowledgeintensive domain which despite the advances in the last few years, still ...

Asymptotic performance of product codes

1999 IEEE International Conference on Communications (Cat. No. 99CH36311), 2003
This paper presents the asymptotic performance of Hamming and extended Hamming product codes for the binary symmetric channel and the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Simulation results for very low complexity high dimensional single parity check product codes on the AWGN channel are also given.

Productivity in High-Performance Computing

2008
Abstract Productivity is an emerging measure of merit for high-performance computing. While pervasive in application, conventional metrics such as flops fail to reflect the complex interrelationships of diverse factors that determine the overall effectiveness of the use of a computing system.

Productive performance of cattle in Botswana

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 1974
A field investigation was undertaken in several areas of Botswana to determine how management, environment and possibly aphosphorosis affected the bodily condition and reproductive performance of range cattle in these areas. Results indicated that poor management, overgrazing and poor watering facilities seriously impaired bodily condition and ...

Product Design and Financial Performance

Design Management Journal, 2010
This paper intends to offer useful complements to prior studies in the field by relating product design effectiveness to firms’ financial performance. Six hypotheses were proposed on this relationship and the moderating effect of particular industries.
