Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Is the Prognostic Nutritional Index a Predictor of Urolithiasis?
Objective: Prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is a parameter that reflects nutritional status and inflammation. It is calculated from serum albumin and lymphocyte count. Our study investigated whether PNI has a predictive value in urolithiasis. Materials and Methods: Data of patients who applied to A & gbreve;r & imath; Training and Research Hospital ...

Nutritional and prognostic correlates of bioimpedance indexes in hemodialysis patients
We carried out a cross sectional and longitudinal study to assess whether bioimpedance indexes (resistance, Rz; reactance, Xc; phase angle, PA) reflect the nutritional status of hemodialysis (HD) patients, and bear a significant association with their long-term survival.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Change in Nutritional Status and Dysphagia after Resection of Head and Neck Cancer
Nutritional status is well-known to influence patient recovery after resection of head and neck cancer (HNC). The influence of preoperative nutritional status on dysphagia was assessed in patients who underwent surgical resection of HNC along with the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
