Prioritizing Project Selection

The Engineering Economist, 2009
We consider capital investments under uncertainty. A typical approach to this problem, when the problem parameters are assumed known, is via a multi-knapsack model. This model takes as input annual budgets as well as the cost streams and profit—i.e., net present value (NPV)—of each project.

Selected German Projects

Architectural Design, 2007
AbstractIn the last two decades, Rationalism has been revisited in Germany. As Werner Durth and Roland May demonstrate in these four projects it can provide very different strategies for dealing with often complex urban contexts, whether it provides: ‘order for disparate surroundings’ as in the Ohel Jakob Synagogue in Munich; a consistent vocabulary ...

Selected Italian Projects

Architectural Design, 2007
AbstractRationalism remains at the sidelines of contemporary architecture in Italy – a latent current rather than a leading force. Andrew Peckham and Lucia Tozzi reveal how this stubborn but rich seam is manifesting itself: in Cino Zucchi's substantial housing scheme on the outskirts of Milan; Werner Tscholl's insertion into Schloss Sigmundskron/Castel

Selecting the Project

2020
It is critical to everybody to make a good match between the project and project team, especially the project / student combination. The student of course also wants to ensure they are working with a supervisor and client who will provide good support and with whom they can work well. Supervisors will particularly wish to try and achieve good synergies

Projection selection hashing

2015 International Conference on Wavelet Analysis and Pattern Recognition (ICWAPR), 2015
Hashing methods can perform large scale image retrieval tasks efficiently. Random projection hashing methods, such as the SKLSH, have excellent performances in long code length situation. Owing to the randomness of the projections of random projection hashing methods, projections can be ‘good’ or ‘bad’. In this work, we propose the Projection Selection

Multicriterial Projects Selection

2013
Decision support system described here makes it possible to carry out multicriterial selection of hundreds of projects simultaneously, with tens of criterion functions with bivalent variables including polynomial ones and quotients of linear functions, and tens of resources limitations.

Selected French Projects

Architectural Design, 2007
AbstractFrench architecture is on the brink of change. If Rationalist tendencies achieve critical mass, they could prove the catalyst for a dynamic and significant cultural moment. Joseph Abram describes some of the buildings that display the full ‘spectrum of possibilities’ of the reasoned approach in France, from the urban poetics of Patrick Berger ...
