Numerical Study of Wind induced Pressures on Irregular Plan Shapes

open access: yesIconarp International Journal of Architecture and Planning, 2021
Purpose: This paper presents the numerical examination of wind pressure distributions on irregular plan shape building models over wind incidence angles of 0° and 180°.

Conflicts and projections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper studies abstraction methods suitable to verify very large models of discrete-event systems to be nonconflicting. It compares the observer property to methods known from process algebra, namely to conflict equivalence and observation ...

Projects, Project Capabilities and Project Organizations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This chapter clarifies our understanding of the project-based firm (PBF) by sharpening the theoretical foundations of project capabilities. It emphasizes the differences between project capabilities that eliminate variance in project outcomes (to control costs and add value) and economies of scale that reduce costs across multiple projects.

Project, Projecting, Projection

open access: yes, 2023
On 30 November 2021, the doctoral researchers of the Doctoral School 31 Practices and Theories of Meaning of the University of Paris 8 Vincennes - Saint-Denis organised a study day on the theme "Project, Projecting, Projection". This book gathers seven articles resulting from these academic exchanges, gathered in order to offer an inter- and ...

Advancing Global Ecological Modeling Capabilities to Simulate Future Trajectories of Change in Marine Ecosystems

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
Considerable effort is being deployed to predict the impacts of climate change and anthropogenic activities on the ocean's biophysical environment, biodiversity, and natural resources to better understand how marine ecosystems and provided services to ...

Projections in minimax algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
An axiomatic theory of linear operators can be constructed for abstract spaces defined over (R, ⊕, ⊗), that is over the (extended) real numbersR with the binary operationsx ⊕ y = max (x,y) andx ⊗ y = x + y.

Quantifying Uncertainty in the Modelling Process; Future Extreme Flood Event Projections Across the UK

open access: yesGeosciences, 2021
With evidence suggesting that climate change is resulting in changes within the hydrologic cycle, the ability to robustly model hydroclimatic response is critical.

Projective Measure Without Projective Baire

open access: yesMemoirs of the American Mathematical Society, 2020
We prove that it is consistent (relative to a Mahlo cardinal) that all projective sets of reals are Lebesgue measurable, but there is a $Δ^1_3$ set without the Baire property. The complexity of the set which provides a counterexample to the Baire property is optimal.

Weighted projections into closed subspaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we study $A$-projections, i.e. operators of a Hilbert space $\HH$ which act as projections when a seminorm is considered in $\HH$. $A$-projections were introduced by Mitra and Rao \cite{[MitRao74]} for finite dimensional spaces.
