M2 Macrophage‐Derived Migrasomes Mediate Ischaemia‐Induced Retinal Neovascularization by Targeting TREM2

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2025.
M2 macrophages produced and released TREM2‐enriched migrasomes, which were internalized by HRECs through macropinocytosis and phagocytosis. Subsequently, migrasomes up‐regulated pathological retinal angiogenesis and biological functions of HRECs by targeting downstream molecules (BTC, PLA1A, etc).

A Review of Innovations in Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Surgical Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) requires surgical intervention for its repair. There are variable techniques used for this purpose, and they are all being continuously refined.

MicroRNA-4516 suppresses proliferative vitreoretinopathy development via negatively regulating OTX1.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) progression is associated with TGF-β2-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells.

Molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying gyrate atrophy: Why is the retina primarily affected?

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 7, Page e436-e455, November 2025.
Abstract Gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina (GACR; OMIM #258870) is a rare early‐onset autosomal recessive disorder, caused by bi‐allelic pathogenic variants in the gene coding for ornithine aminotransferase (OAT) resulting in hyperornithinaemia.

Intravitreal injection of bevacizumab in primary vitrectomy to decrease the rate of retinal redetachment: A randomized pilot study

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmic & Vision Research, 2016
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) as a surgical adjunct in prevention of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) after retinal detachment surgery. Methods: In this controlled, randomized pilot study, 27 patients with primary

Free Radicals in Health and Disease

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 10, October 2025.
Free radicals have dual roles that can either selectively create oxidative damages to transformed cells in treating proliferative diseases such as cancers and some dermatological disorders or boost the antioxidant system in treating degenerative diseases such as neurodegenerative disorder, joint degeneration, and metabolic conditions.
