Proline Metabolism in Leishmania donovani Promastigotes*

The Journal of Protozoology, 1972
SYNOPSISOxygen uptake of Leishmania donovani culture promastigotes was stimulated by L‐proline and to a lesser extent by L‐glutamate and L‐arginine. L‐proline reversed partially KCN‐induced inhibition of respiration and completely, inhibition caused by malonate.

Cross-reacting surface antigens on Leishmania promastigotes

International Journal for Parasitology, 1983
Abstract Three strains of Leishmania donovani from America, India and Kenya and a strain of Leishmania mexicana were grown in culture as promastigotes. The parasites werw surface labelled by lactoperoxide-catalysed iodination and the surface proteins analysed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and autoradiography.

Heparin binding proteins from Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis promastigotes

Veterinary Parasitology, 2007
We have examined the heparin binding proteins from Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis promastigotes (HBP-Lb) by chromatography assays. The proposed strategy to isolate an enriched fraction of the HBP-Lb consisted of an association of the Triton X-114 method with affinity chromatography in heparin-Sepharose 4B column.

Leishmania mexicana promastigotes secrete a protein tyrosine phosphatase

Parasitology Research, 2010
Leishmania mexicana is an intracellular protozoan parasite that infects macrophages and dendritic cells and causes a chronic cutaneous disease. Although many enzymatic activities have been reported in this parasite, the presence of kinases and phosphatases has been poorly studied.

Leishmania donovani: Surface membrane carbohydrates of promastigotes

Experimental Parasitology, 1977
Abstract Cloned promastigote forms of Leishmania donovani, a human protozoan pathogen, were agglutinated specifically with the plant lectins concanavalin A (Con A), fucose binding protein, phytohemagglutinin-M and -P, soybean agglutinin (SBA), and wheat germ agglutinin (WGA). Cell agglutination with lectins was inhibited, and reversed in the presence

Thermoregulated Antigen Expression by Leishmania Promastigotes

1989
The biochemical characterization of antigens expressed by Leishmania ssp have often been limited to the promastigote form of the organism because it is difficult to obtain adequate quantities of amastigotes for extended studies. To this date the direct analysis of amastigote antigens has not been possible for some species (ie. L. aethiopica) due to the
