Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Molecular Characterization and Expression Profiles of Myrosinase Gene (RsMyr2) in Radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2014
Myrosinase is a defense-related enzyme and is capable of hydrolyzing glucosinolates into a variety of compounds, some of which are toxic to pathogens and herbivores.

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

A novel constitutive promoter and its downstream 5′ UTR derived from cotton (Gossypium spp.) drive high-level gene expression in stem and leaf tissues

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2016
The development of genetically modified crops requires new promoters and regulatory regions to achieve high gene expression and/or tissue-specific expression patterns in plants.

Founder mutation in the PMM2 promotor causes hyperinsulinemic hypoglycaemia/polycystic kidney disease (HIPKD)

open access: yesMolecular Genetics & Genomic Medicine, 2021
Background Polycystic kidney disease with hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia (HIPKD) is a recently described disease caused by a single nucleotide variant, c.‐167G>T, in the promoter region of PMM2 (encoding phosphomannomutase 2), either in homozygosity or ...

Isolating Price Promotions: The Influence of Promotional Timing on Promotion Redemption

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Consumer Research, 2021
This research investigates how the timing of the promotional encounter, whether consumers encounter a promotion in isolation or at the moment of choice alongside other products, influences how consumers evaluate and redeem a promotional offer. Three studies demonstrate that isolated promotions for premium brands are more effective than traditional ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Myeloid zinc finger 1 (MZF1) is the most important transcriptional factor for porcine follistatin promoter

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2015
Follistatin (FS) is a secreted protein, which was originally isolated from porcine follicular fluid. Expression of follistatin is tightly regulated during porcine growth and development.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
