A Practical Noise2Noise Denoising Pipeline for High‐Throughput Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A lightweight and reproducible denoising pipeline for high‐throughput Raman spectroscopy is introduced, based on a 1D convolutional autoencoder trained with a Noise2Noise strategy. Using only repeated short‐exposure acquisitions, the method suppresses stochastic noise without reference spectra, enabling reliable spectral reconstruction while preserving

Blockchain based on proof-of-work consensus algorithm: Evolution and future potential

open access: yesEnergy Nexus
The Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm has been a foundational element of blockchain technology, designed to establish decentralized security, enable trustless transactions, and ensure tamper-proof record-keeping.

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

Tie-Breaking Rule Based on Partial Proof of Work in a Blockchain

open access: yesIEEE Access
In the area of blockchain, numerous methods have been proposed for suppressing intentional forks by attackers more effectively than the random rule. However, all of them, except for the random rule, require major updates such as hard forks or soft forks,

Impact of MgO Additions on the Oxidation Resistance and Compression Behavior of Vanadium Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An increase in oxidation resistance at 600 °C is achieved for alloys containing more than 2.5 wt.% MgO. It has been established that, along with V2O5, MgO6V2, and Mg2O7V2 are formed, which are presumed to enhance oxidative stability. Furthermore, the possible transformation of Mg‐vanadates through reaction with CO2, which presumably occurs in this ...

Controlling Grain Growth in Powder Bed Fusion of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Using Femtosecond Lasers: Challenges and Methodological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Towards a Low Carbon Proof-of-work Blockchain

open access: yesInternational Journal of Network Security & Its Applications
Proof of Work (PoW) blockchains burn a lot of energy. Proof-of-work algorithms are expensive by design and often only serve to compute blockchains. In some sense, carbon-based and non-carbon based regional electric power is fungible. So the total carbon and non-carbon electric power mix plays a role.

A Novel Approach to Estimate the Transition Temperature via Dynamic Nanoindentation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new dynamic nanoindentation‐based method was developed that uses the stiffness ratio as an indicator of the elastic–plastic deformation contributions at different temperatures. The approach successfully identified transition temperatures in ferritic steel and distinguished them from continuously ductile austenitic steel.
