On Optimal Wireless Scheduling with Propagation Delays

MILCOM 2013 - 2013 IEEE Military Communications Conference, 2013
The minimum-length scheduling problem has recently been studied for wireless networks with a realistic physical interference model. In these approaches, the propagation delay is ignored due to the relatively fast speed of RF waves compared to the transmission duration.

Random access with large propagation delay

IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 1997
Random access to a packet broadcast channel with large propagation delay is investigated. A protocol is presented that combines slotted ALOHA random access with the use of forward-error-correction (FEC) across transmitted packets. Expressions for the throughput, delay, and drift of this protocol are derived. Numerical studies and asymptotic analyses of

Propagation delay stabilization to address fast and slow delay changes

2016 10th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks and Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2016
We propose and demonstrate a combination of two methods to stabilize end-to-end delay of an optical fiber link. Temperature conditioning method effectively compensates large slow delay changes while wavelength tuning compensates fast delay jitter. We present our measurement data for three basic telecommunication optical fibers.

Delay Propagation Properties with Self-similarity

11th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS'05), 2005
In this paper, we show the analysis of network load propagation properties with heavy-tailedness of Internet paths using our IP performance active measurement method. This method sends ICMP TIMESTAMP messages and receives reply messages to and from each node along the path.

Propagation Delay of Waveguide Photodetector

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2010
Optical phase locked loop (OPLL) photonic integrated circuits (PIC) are critical for the high dynamic range phase modulated RF/photonic links. They provide for linear phase demodulation. A challenge for implementing the OPLL PICs is how to reduce the loop propagation delay.

On the TDMA with imprecise propagation delay information

2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS), 2014
In this paper, I study the receiver synchronized time division multiple access (TDMA) in the presence of propagation delay deviation, which is one of the major parameter to consider for underwater wireless sensor networks. First I describe how the receiver synchronized TDMA protocol can be used in a network without propagation delay deviation.

Propagation Index on Airport Delays

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2019
This paper explores the propagation effect of flight delays among airports in the aviation system and proposes a new measure, the propagation index, to effectively analyze the interrelationship among airports in relation to flight delays. This index quantifies the effect of delay propagation by measuring the causality among delay time series. To assess

Modelling Delay Propagation in Railway Networks

2014
In this paper we study the accumulation and propagation of delays in (simplified) railway networks. More precisely, we want to estimate the total expected arrival delay of passengers as a cost criterion to be used in a timetable optimisation. Therefore, we want to determine the delay distributions analytically from given source delay distributions.

Delays. Propagation. Conservation Laws.

2012
Since the very first paper of J. Bernoulli in 1728, a connection exists between initial boundary value problems for hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations (PDE) in the plane (with a single space coordinate accounting for wave propagation) and some associated Functional Equations (FE).
