Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Proper names semantics in neurolinguistical depiction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The paper presents latest research results in the field of cognitive psychology of proper names. The goal of this paper is proper names semantics characteristic (toponymy, anthroponymy) provided on the base of experiments with aphate with proper anomia ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Proper names, morphology and second language acquisition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Proper names make up quite a large proportion of the words in the course books judging by Coctaill, a corpus consisting of course books used to teach adults Swedish as a second or foreign language.

Proper Names as Demonstratives in Fiction

open access: yesStudia Semiotyczne, 2022
DOI: https://doi.org/10.26333/sts.xxxvi1.05 In this article, I argue for two theses. The first is that, among different existing accounts of proper name semantics, indexicalism—a stance that treats proper names as indexical expressions—is best suited

Character, proper names, and Frege’s Puzzle

open access: yesFilosofia Unisinos, 2016
Kaplan’s (1989a) solution to the indexical version of Frege’s Puzzle in terms of the character of linguistic expressions has been greatly influential and much discussed.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Proper Names in Translational Contexts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Rendering of proper names in translational contexts may be a simple and automatic procedure that only involves minor sound adjustments. However, translators take, and sometimes have to adopt, all kinds of strategies with proper names, especially in ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Cognitive Processing of Proper Names [PDF]

open access: yes
The distinct processing characteristics of proper names have been characterised in various ways. Proper names have been considered unique, meaningless labels, and pure referencing expressions.
