Why Do Minoritized Students Deploy More Than One Language During a Physics Inquiry?
ABSTRACT We present a study that documented the participation of two high school Arab students in Israel in an extended (2‐year) authentic physics inquiry that took place in a regional program located in a Hebrew‐speaking kibbutz high school. The students' first language is Arabic, but they are fluent in Hebrew, and their inquiry was mentored by a ...

Azimuthal asymmetries in lepton and heavy-quark pair production in UPCs
Azimuthal modulations in lepton and heavy-quark pair production in ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) of highly charged ions are investigated. The modulations in the azimuthal angles of the sum and difference of the transverse momenta of the pair of ...

Local spatial densities for composite spin-3/2 systems
The definition of local spatial densities by using sharply localized one-particle states is applied to spin-3/2 systems. Matrix elements of the electromagnetic current and the energy-momentum tensor are considered and integral expressions of associated ...

Deciphering the Properties of Hot and Dense Matter with Hadron-hadron Correlations [PDF]
Two classes of jet correlations in hot and dense matter are explored. Correlations between very high transverse momentum hadrons within a jet sample the gluon density of the medium, where, the minimal modification on the same side as the trigger is consistent with the picture and parameters of partonic energy loss.

The Effect of Seductive Details on Knowledge Retention in Physics Videos: A Mixed Methods Study
ABSTRACT Research reports that interesting but irrelevant information, seductive details, in teaching material can impede learning. In science education, the inclusion of historical narratives in lessons to promote interest has been recommended but may hinder learning.

ABSTRACT The physics of heavy‐ion collisions is one of the most exciting and challenging directions of science for the last four decades. On the theoretical side one deals with a non‐abelian field theory, while on the experimental side today's largest accelerators are needed to enable these studies.

Study of the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleons in the timelike region
The electromagnetic form factors G E and G M of the proton and neutron in the timelike region are extracted in a study of the processes e + e − → p ¯ p $$ \overline{p}p $$ and e + e − → n ¯ n $$ \overline{n}n $$ .

Two Micron‐Size Dark Dimensions
Abstract Two extra dimensions of micron scale might simultaneously address the gauge and cosmological hierarchy problems. In this paper various observational bounds in scenarios with one and two large extra dimensions are examined, to see if they are compatible with the micron scale.

Overview of ALICE results on azimuthal correlations using neutral- and heavy-meson triggers
The ALICE detector is dedicated to studying the properties of hot and dense matter created in heavy-ion collisions. Among the probes used to investigate these properties are high-momentum particles, which originate in hard-scatterings occurring before ...
