THE PROPHYLAXIS OF INFLUENZA [PDF]
To the Editor: —At the end of the first week of the influenza epidemic at Newport (Sept. 15, 1918), while the disease was raging with great severity, 1,000 men were removed from the receiving barracks to the Vanderbilt farm (Camp Admiral Oman), 7 miles out of town. Here they were placed in large pyramidal tents, eight men to each tent.

Virus-induced changes in peroxisomal markers among HIV-infected patients
Relevance. It is been currently known that viruses rewire the metabolic machinery host’s cell to promote successful viral replication via reprogramming host energy flows, resource, metabolic tools and further, the reorganization of cellular structures ...

Orally administered, pH‐responsive Co‐SAN exerts dual functions: in the alkaline intestinal milieu, it scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppresses the PI3K/AKT pathway and NETs formation, thus providing radioprotection; whereas in the acidic tumor microenvironment, it generates ROS and alleviates hypoxia, thereby enhancing radiosensitization.

Numerical Method of Flexible Pavement considering Moisture and Stress Sensitivity of Subgrade Soils
Weaknesses of the subgrade structure induce the asphalt surface diseases and shorten the service life of flexible pavement. However, the resilient modulus (Mr) of subgrade soils is difficult to be evaluated directly since the subgrade is hidden and ...
