Natural products as sources of new fungicides (I): synthesis and antifungal activity of Kakuol derivatives against phytopathogenic fungi [PDF]
In order to establish an advanced structural-activity relationship (SAR) and to explore the feasibility of kakuol analogues with better anti-fungi activity, a series of 2-hydroxy-4,5-methylenedioxyaryl ketones were conveniently synthesized by the Friedel-

Electronically flexible PYA ligands for efficient palladium-catalyzed α-arylation of ketones. [PDF]
Palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling chemistry and in particular ketone α-arylation has been relying on a rather narrow range of supporting ligands with almost no alternatives to phosphines and N-heterocyclic carbenes.

Propiophenone 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone
Crystals of the title compound, C15H14N4O4, were obtained from a condensation reaction between 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine and propiophenone. The compound crystallizes in an E configuration. Within the dinitrophenyl ring the distances [average 1.417 (4) A] of C—C bonds ipso to the amino group are significantly longer than the average distance of 1.
