Connexin43 Promotes the Invasion and Metastasis of Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma via GJIC‐Dependent Ca2+/ERK Signaling Activation

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Cx43 mediated GJIC‐dependent delivery of second messenger Ca2+ thus activating the ERK signaling pathway. Verapamil, effective effectively inhibits these pathways. ABSTRACT Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is an extremely metastatic cancer with limited available treatment and poor outcomes.

ONO‐4578 Plus Nivolumab in Unresectable Advanced or Recurrent Gastric or Gastroesophageal Junction Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
The limited efficacy of current immune checkpoint inhibitors requires new approaches to overcome immunosuppression. In this phase 1 study, ONO‐4578 plus nivolumab showed a manageable safety profile, signs of antitumor activity, and immune activation, providing reference for further studies evaluating the clinical benefit of ONO‐4578 and nivolumab in ...

Macrophage Efferocytosis as a Therapeutic Strategy in Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Macrophages, integral to degenerated intervertebral discs, play a critical role in disc degeneration. By performing efferocytosis, they clear apoptotic cells. This article explores the process of efferocytosis, its molecular mechanisms, potential therapeutic implications for intervertebral disc degeneration and future strategies for targeted treatments.

Medial femorotibial and femoropatellar articular cartilage delamination following intra‐articular therapy with triamcinolone and gentamicin in five yearlings

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Subchondral lucencies (SCLs) of the medial femoral condyle (MFC) are a cause of lameness in young horses, potentially affecting future athletic performance. Due to the widespread use of pre‐sales screening radiographs for Thoroughbred weanlings and yearlings, these lesions are frequently identified at various stages of progression without the ...

Equine temporomandibular joint diseases: A systematic review

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a unique joint that enables mandibular movement. Temporomandibular diseases (TMDs) impair joint function, leading to more or less specific clinical signs. Objectives To compile and disseminate clinical data and research findings from existing publications on equine TMD.

Synovial fluid alpha‐2‐macroglobulin, gelsolin and lubricin distinguish between osteoarthritic and healthy equine joints

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Synovial fluid (SF) is an ideal sentinel fluid for osteoarthritis (OA) diagnosis and prognostication due to its critical homeostatic role, proximity to articular tissues and immune cell composition. Untargeted proteomics enable identification of soluble markers for diagnostic and therapeutic applications while minimising bias ...

Zic family member 5 promotes RIO kinase 3 expression to enhance pancreatic cancer survival

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that targeting ZIC5 increases gemcitabine sensitivity and induces pancreatic cancer shrinkage in vivo. The findings also show that ALDH3B1, PTGES, and TUFT1, the downstream genes of ZIC5, contribute to gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer cells.
