Serotonin Degradation and Lipid Metabolism Regulate Human Tc2 Cell Effector Functions

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Human Tc2 cells exhibit a metabolically active phenotype characterized by enhanced glycolysis, mitochondrial respiration, and fatty acid uptake dependent on PPARγ. Alarmins strongly amplify IL‐5 and IL‐13 production in Tc2 cells, supporting a shared immunometabolic program across type 2 lymphocytes.

Nomenclature on Immune‐Mediated Drug Reactions: An EAACI Position Paper

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over the past several decades, there have been significant advances in our understanding of both immunological and pharmacological mechanisms of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Immune‐mediated drug reactions (IMDRs) represent a small proportion of ADRs and are caused by a pathological activation of the immune system or inflammatory pathways ...

The efficacy and safety of reducing intraocular pressure to single‐digit levels in Normal‐tension glaucoma: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This systematic review and meta‐analysis aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of further lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) to single‐digit levels in treated patients with progressive normal‐tension glaucoma (NTG). Methods A literature search was conducted in MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus and Web of Science. We selected studies that

Interpreting the structure–function relationship in high myopia‐associated glaucoma: A review

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Visual field (VF) interpretation in high myopia‐associated glaucoma (HMG) is challenging due to frequent structure–function discordance and coexisting myopia‐related changes. These changes may reduce the reliability of conventional structure–function mapping and increase the risk of misclassifying non‐glaucomatous VF abnormalities as ...

Review Article: The Impact of the Gut Microbiome on Ulcerative Colitis Pharmacotherapy

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome modulates ulcerative colitis pharmacotherapy through microbial drug metabolism, immune regulation and altered drug bioavailability. Microbial composition influences response to aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, immunomodulators, biologics and small molecules, while microbiome‐targeted therapies show emerging promise.

Compartmentalisation in cAMP signalling: A phase separation perspective

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cells rely on precise spatiotemporal control of signalling pathways to ensure functional specificity. The compartmentalisation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and protein kinase A (PKA) signalling enables distinct cellular responses within a crowded cytoplasmic space.

Novel approaches for drug development against chronic primary pain: A systematic review

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic primary pain (CPP) persisting for more than 3 months, associated with significant emotional distress without any known underlying cause, is an unmet medical need. Traditional or adjuvant analgesics do not provide satisfactory pain relief for a great proportion of these patients.

Differential segment‐specific signalling pathways for guanylate cyclase C‐activated anion secretion in murine ileocolon

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Guanylate cyclase‐C (GC‐C) is the receptor for endogenous (uro)guanylin peptides, bacterial toxins and pharmacological analogues. Receptor activation leads to intestinal fluid loss, but also activates an antiproliferative pathway and is a promising target in colorectal cancer therapy.

Novel therapeutic targets for chronic visceral pain in gastrointestinal disorders

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Chronic visceral pain imposes a major clinical challenge in gastroenterology and beyond, profoundly impacting patients' quality of life. However, limited understanding of its complex, multifaceted pathophysiology, encompassing both peripheral and central mechanisms, continues to impede the development of effective management strategies.
