Chapter 1 The prostaglandins and essential fatty acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Publisher This chapter discusses prostaglandins and essential fatty acids. The systematic nomenclature of prostaglandins and prostaglandin metabolites is based on prostanoic acid, a monocarboxylic acid with 20 carbon atoms, arranged as two side chains ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Prostaglandins in fetal tracheal and amniotic fluid from late pregnant sheep [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Concentrations of prostaglandin E (PGE), prostaglandin F (PGF) and 13,14 dihydro 15 keto prostaglandin F (PGFM) have been measured in fetal tracheal and amniotic fluid from chronically catheterized sheep during late pregnancy.

Prostaglandin F concentration in serum of hens and cocks

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1999
Prostaglandin F (PGF) concentrations in the serum of laying and nonlaying hens and of cocks at various times during a day were measured by radioimmunoassay. The serum concentration of PGF was higher in laying hens than in nonlaying hens or cocks without regard to time of day.

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

Insulin/FOXO Signaling Regulates Ovarian Prostaglandins Critical for Reproduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
SummaryAbnormalities in insulin/IGF-1 signaling are associated with infertility, but the molecular mechanisms are not well understood. Here we use liquid chromatography with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry to show that the C.

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.
