Surgical management of enlarged prostatic utricle

Pediatric Surgery International, 2000
The prostatic utricle (PU), or prostatic pouch, is a rudimentary structure present in the male prostatic urethra, and is derived from both the müllerian and wolffian ducts. Excision of Prostatic Utricle

open access: yes, 2013

Classification of Enlarged Prostatic Utricle in Patients with Hypospadias

open access: yesBritish Journal of Urology, 1985

Prostatic utricles were

Cystoscopic Management of Prostatic Utricles

Urology, 2021
In this case series (n = 7) on prostatic utricles (PU), retention of urine was seen in 5 of 7, urinary tract infection (4 of 7), recurrent epidydymo-orchitis (3 of 7), and scrotal sinus (1 of 7). Voiding cystourethrogram established diagnosis in 3 of 7 patients while CT/MRI in 4 of 7 patients.

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. Winston Churchill This message cautions that one should not be so infatuated with the beauty of one’s design such that one fails to evaluate the outcomes.
