Protectin D1 reduces imiquimod-induced psoriasiform skin inflammation
International Immunopharmacology, 2021Specialized proresolving mediators are enzymatically oxygenated natural molecules derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids and are considered novel. These novel mediators include lipoxins from arachidonic acid, resolvins and protectins from omega-3 essential fatty acids, and new maresins.

Total synthesis of the antiinflammatory and proresolving protectin D1
Tetrahedron Letters, 2011Stereoselective total synthesis of protectin D1 was completed through construction of the Z,E,E-triene structure by using the Suzuki coupling between the vinyl borane (C13–C22) and the vinyl iodide (C1–C12). The Z-enyne, the acetylene precursor of the vinyl borane was synthesized from optically active γ-TMS allylic alcohol in a straightforward way.

There is currently a growing interest in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) oxygenated metabolites. Among them, protectin D1 (PD1), an endogenous dihydroxylated and non-cyclic docosatriene made through lipoxygenation and hydrolysis of an epoxide intermediate, shows appealing biological effects.

Dysregulated synthesis of protectin D1 in eosinophils from patients with severe asthma
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2013Protectin D1 (PD1) is an anti-inflammatory and proresolving lipid mediator biosynthesized from the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Exogenous PD1 conferred protection against eosinophilic inflammation in animals with experimental asthma, although its endogenous cellular source and functions in human airways are of interest. We sought to ...
