Botryosphaeria dieback of grapevine

open access: yesGlasnik Zaštite Bilja, 2022
Grapevine is one of the most important culture grown in the world. It is attacked by a large number of phytopathogenic fungi, of which species of the family Botryosphaeriaceae pose one of the most significant threats.

Corruption and trade protection: evidence from panel data [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides new estimates of the effects of corruption and poor institutions on trade protection. It exploits data on several measures of trade protection including import duty, international trade taxes, and the trade-GDP ratio.

Conserving Atlantic Bluefin Tuna with Spawning Sanctuaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent population assessments indicate that Atlantic bluefin tuna populations in both the western and eastern Atlantic need increased protection to rebuild their depleted populations, yet current management measures are not working.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Political economy determinants of non-agricultural trade policy [PDF]

open access: yes
The authors investigate several existing political economy hypotheses on trade policy using cross-country trade-protection data for non-agricultural goods. The authors find that a left-leaning political regime leads to pro-labor trade policies only for a

Anthropization processes and protection of the environment: an assessment of land cover changes in Sardinia, Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Protection of the environment is implemented through preventive and mitigating measures aimed at hindering anthropization processes. These measures may possibly entail the establishment of natural protected areas and sites where conservation measures are

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Measuring protection: a cautionary tale [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Development Economics, 1997
Abstract This paper comments on a theoretically based index of protection recently developed by Anderson and Neary. The index must be calculated within the context of a specific CGE model; Anderson and Neary propose a generic model, and have found that the index is robust to changes in the elasticities embedded within that model.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
