Determinants of Cancer Early Detection Behaviors:Application of Protection Motivation Theory [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Promotion Perspectives, 2015
Background: Cancer is account for 13% of all deaths around the world and is the third cause of mortality in Iran. More than one third of these cases are pre-ventable and about 33% are curable with early detection.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Effects Of Anodic Protection On SCC Behavior Of X80 Pipeline Steel In High-pH Carbonate-Bicarbonate Solution

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2015
The potentiodynamic polarization test and slow strain rate tensile tests of X80 pipeline steel were performed in 0.5M Na2CO3-1M NaHCO3 solution to study the electrochemical and stress corrosion cracking properties.

Life‐Threatening Bradycardia in Anti‐NMDA‐Receptor Encephalitis and a Novel Use for Permanent Pacing

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis (pNMDARE) is an autoantibody‐mediated disorder that can cause severe autonomic dysfunction, including symptomatic bradycardia and asystole. Dysautonomia can last for years, making it very challenging to manage.

Corrosion resistant coating with passive protection and self-healing property based on Fe3O4-MBT nanoparticles

open access: yesCorrosion Communications, 2022
This work synthesized novel Fe3O4 nanoparticles loaded with 2-mercaptobenzothiazole corrosion inhibitors (Fe3O4-MBT NPs), which possessed not only photothermal conversion property but also corrosion inhibition ability.

Protecting Children From Passive Smoking [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2007
Where once my careless childhood strayed A stranger yet to pain… No sense have they of ills to come Nor care beyond today. — —Thomas Gray, “Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College,” 1768 Childhood is a time in which foundations are laid on which the adult is formed. Nevertheless, it is surprising for most to discover just how early in life arteries

Remote Monitoring in Myasthenia Gravis: Exploring Symptom Variability

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare, autoimmune disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and potential life‐threatening crises. While continuous specialized care is essential, access barriers often delay timely interventions. To address this, we developed MyaLink, a telemedical platform for MG patients.

Modeling of spreading of the melted corium jet inside the pool of emergency heat removal during severe accidents at NPP [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2012
Important nuclear power safety problem in touch with modeling of melted corium jet spreading inside the coolant pool is considered in the paper. It appears by development of the passive protection systems against se-vere accidents.

Mechanism of protection induced by group A Streptococcus vaccine candidate J8-DT: contribution of B and T-cells towards protection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Vaccination with J8-DT, a leading GAS vaccine candidate, results in protective immunity in mice. Analysis of immunologic correlates of protection indicated a role of J8-specific antibodies that were induced post-immunization.
