Protein data bank

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics, 2012
Research Collaborators for structural Bioinformatics Protein Data Bank (RCBS PDB) began in 1970’s by group of the young crystallographers, including Edgar Meyer, Gerson Coheon and Helen M Berman.[1] The project was initiated in 1971 to list the ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Cd-hit: a fast program for clustering and comparing large sets of protein or nucleotide sequences

open access: yesBioinform., 2006
MOTIVATION In 2001 and 2002, we published two papers (Bioinformatics, 17, 282-283, Bioinformatics, 18, 77-82) describing an ultrafast protein sequence clustering program called cd-hit.

Develop machine learning based predictive models for engineering protein solubility [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Protein activity is a significant characteristic for recombinant proteins which can be used as biocatalysts. High activity of proteins reduces the cost of biocatalysts. A model that can predict protein activity from amino acid sequence is highly desired, as it aids experimental improvement of proteins.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Differential regulation of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 trafficking and function by extracellular galectins

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2019
Fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs) are integral membrane proteins that transmit signals through the plasma membrane. FGFRs signaling needs to be precisely adjusted as aberrant FGFRs function is associated with development of human cancers or ...

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

The Sticholysin I mutants St I E2C and St I R52C show similar binding to liposomal vesicles but differ in their permeabilizing activity

open access: yesBiotecnología Aplicada
The mechanism of pore formation by actinoporins is a multistep process, involving binding of water soluble monomer to membrane and subsequent oligomerization of monomers on the membrane surface, forming a functional pore.

Dataset concerning GroEL chaperonin interaction with proteins

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
GroEL chaperonin is well-known to interact with a wide variety of polypeptide chains. Here we show the data related to our previous work (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.pep.2015.11.020 [1]), and concerning the interaction of GroEL with native (lysozyme, α ...
