Effects of Ionic Liquids on Metalloproteins

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
In the past decade, innovative protein therapies and bio-similar industries have grown rapidly. Additionally, ionic liquids (ILs) have been an area of great interest and rapid development in industrial processes over a similar timeline.

Blinking statistics of a molecular beacon triggered by end-denaturation of DNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We use a master equation approach based on the Poland-Scheraga free energy for DNA denaturation to investigate the (un)zipping dynamics of a denaturation wedge in a stretch of DNA, that is clamped at one end. In particular, we quantify the blinking dynamics of a fluorophore-quencher pair mounted within the denaturation wedge.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Numerical Simulation of Protein Denaturation of Scallop Adductors during Heating Based on Temperature Distribution and Water Status Distribution

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Protein denaturation is the key point affecting quality attributes of the scallop adductors (SA) during thermal processing such as drying, sous-vide cooking and traditional cooking.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Denaturation of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein under non-thermal microwave radiation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is still a widespread threat to society. The spike protein of this virus facilitates viral entry into the host cell.

Thermal denaturation of a protein (CoVE) by a coarse-grained Monte Carlo simulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Thermal response of a protein (CoVE) conformation is studied by a coarse-grained Monte Carlo simulation. Three distinct segments, the N-terminal, Trans-membrane, and C-terminal are verified from its specific contact profile. The radius of gyration (Rg) is found to exhibit a non-monotonic sub-universal thermal response: Rg decays on heating in native ...
