This Commentary examines research by Wu et al. showing that β‐1,3‐glucan synthase‐like 5 (GSL5) functions as a key gene for susceptibility to clubroot in Brassica family members by suppressing immunity regulated by jasmonic acid. Inaction of GSL5 through genome editing provides broad‐spectrum resistance to clubroot.

The Role of Oxidative Stress in Periodontitis
Oxidative stress is involved in multiple chemical reactions that take place in different intracellular organelles: mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum, peroxisomes, autophagy, and aging, and can be influenced by exogenous factors: nutrition, physical activity, psychological status, environmental conditions, microbiome, and drugs.

Protein Disulfide Isomerase Modulates the Activation of Thyroid Hormone Receptors
Thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) are responsible for mediating thyroid hormone (T3 and T4) actions at a cellular level. They belong to the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily and execute their main functions inside the cell nuclei as hormone-regulated ...

Protein disulphide isomerase-induced refolding of sonochemically prepared Ribonuclease A microspheres [PDF]
The present communication describes for the first time the development of Ribonuclease A (RNase A) microspheres using the sonochemical method followed by an enzymatic treatment with protein disulphide isomerase (PDI).

ABSTRACT Plant immune systems recognise pathogen‐derived molecular patterns to activate defence responses, yet the mechanisms underlying fungal pattern recognition in crops remain largely unclear. Here, we characterise the cysteine‐rich secretory protein SsSCP from the broad‐host‐range fungal pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum as a potent elicitor of ...

Quiescin Sulfhydryl Oxidase‐Like 1 Positively Regulates Seed Dormancy in Rice
ABSTRACT Seed dormancy is an adaptive strategy that enables plants to survive adverse environmental conditions. In agricultural contexts, an optimal level of dormancy is essential: Insufficient dormancy can result in preharvest sprouting, while excessive dormancy may lead to uneven germination and poor stand establishment in subsequent crops.

Interactions between cell surface protein disulphide isomerase and S-nitrosoglutathione during nitric oxide delivery [PDF]
In this study, we investigated the role of protein disulphide isomerase (PDI) in rapid metabolism of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) and S-nitrosoalbumin (albSNO) and in NO delivery from these compounds into cells.

Significance The majority of secreted proteins contain disulfide bonds that provide structural stability in the extracellular environment. The formation of correct disulfide bonds is assisted by the enzyme protein disulfide isomerase (PDI). Most secreted

Phylogenetic Relationship of Bombyx mori Protein Disulfide Isomerase
A cDNA that encodes protein disulfide isomerase was isolated from Bombyx mori (bPDI), in which an open reading frame of 494 amino acids contained two PDI-typical thioredoxin active sites of WCGHCK and an ER retention signal of the KDEL motif at its C-terminal. The bPDI protein shared less than 55% of the amino acid sequence homology with other reported
