Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

37LRP induces invasion in hypoxic lung adenocarcinoma cancer cells A549 through the JNK/ERK/c-Jun signaling cascade

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
We previously reported that 37-kDa laminin receptor precursor involved in metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma cancer cells. In this study, we further revealed that hypoxia induced 37-kDa laminin receptor precursor expression and activation of extracellular

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

The Role of Protein Kinases in Antigen-activation of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells of Schistosoma mansoni Infected Individuals

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1997
T cell recognition of antigens displayed on the surface of antigen presenting cell results in rapid activation of protein tyrosine kinases and kinase C.

Latent periodicity of serine-threonine and tyrosine protein kinases and another protein families [PDF]

open access: yesMolekularnuya Biologiya (Russian), vol.39, N3, 2005, 2004
We identified latent periodicity in catalytic domains of approximately 85% of serine/threonine and tyrosine protein kinases. Similar results were obtained for other 22 protein domains. We also designed the method of noise decomposition, which is aimed to distinguish between different periodicity types of the same period length. The method is to be used

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

A2B adenosine receptor activation and modulation by protein kinase C

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms regulate many important signaling pathways. Here, we report that PKC activation by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) enhanced A2B adenosine receptor (AR)-mediated, but not β2-adrenergic receptor-mediated, cAMP

Cooperation of Gq, Gi, and G12/13 in Protein Kinase D Activation and Phosphorylation Induced by Lysophosphatidic Acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
To examine the contribution of different G-protein pathways to lysophosphatidic acid (LPA)-induced protein kinase D (PKD) activation, we tested the effect of LPA on PKD activity in murine embryonic cell lines deficient in Galpha q/11 (Galpha q/11 KO ...

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.
