Internal protein dynamics shifts the distance to the mechanical transition state [PDF]
Mechanical unfolding of polyproteins by force spectroscopy provides valuable insight into their free energy landscapes. Most experiments of the unfolding process have been fit to two-state and/or one dimensional models, with the details of the protein ...

Studying the unfolding process of protein G and protein L under physical property space
Background The studies on protein folding/unfolding indicate that the native state topology is an important determinant of protein folding mechanism.

Proteins unfold in steps [PDF]
I present results from an experiment on the dynamics of folding of a globular protein (bovine serum albumin). Employing a micro-mechanical technique, I perform the measurements on very few molecules (1–100). I observed a sequence of steps in time for both unfolding and refolding.

A protein model exhibiting three folding transitions
We explain the physical basis of a model for small globular proteins with water interactions. The water is supposed to access the protein interior in an "all-or-none" manner during the unfolding of the protein chain.

Human Frataxin Folds Via an Intermediate State. Role of the C-Terminal Region [PDF]
The aim of this study is to investigate the folding reaction of human frataxin, whose deficiency causes the neurodegenerative disease Friedreich’s Ataxia (FRDA).

Folding and Stability of Ankyrin Repeats Control Biological Protein Function
Ankyrin repeat proteins are found in all three kingdoms of life. Fundamentally, these proteins are involved in protein-protein interaction in order to activate or suppress biological processes. The basic architecture of these proteins comprises repeating

Exploration of Protein Unfolding by Modelling Calorimetry Data from Reheating
Studies of protein unfolding mechanisms are critical for understanding protein functions inside cells, de novo protein design as well as defining the role of protein misfolding in neurodegenerative disorders.

Out-of-equilibrium versus dynamical and thermodynamical transitions for a model protein
Equilibrium and out-of-equilibrium transitions of an off-lattice protein model have been identified and studied. In particular, the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of the protein undergoing mechanical unfolding is investigated, and by using a work ...

Coarse-Grained Simulations of Topology-Dependent Mechanisms of Protein Unfolding and Translocation Mediated by ClpY ATPase Nanomachines. [PDF]
Clp ATPases are powerful ring shaped nanomachines which participate in the degradation pathway of the protein quality control system, coupling the energy from ATP hydrolysis to threading substrate proteins (SP) through their narrow central pore ...
