Proteolytic activity of viper venoms
Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology, 2000Proteolytic activities of venoms of vipers kept in a serpentarium for three years or captured in various environmental regions were estimated. Gurza venom contained considerable amounts of protein (830-930 micrograms/mg venom) and displayed a high proteolytic activity by tyrosine (80-140 micrograms/min mg protein).

The proteolytic activity of brain tissue
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1954Abstract 1. 1. An active cathepsin is present in rat, rabbit, bovine and human brain. 2. 2. The cathepsin is more active in the grey matter than in the white. It is active in isolated nuclei from cells of the cerebral cortex. 3. 3. The cathepsin is stable to keeping. It acts optimally at pH 3.5 to 3.8.

Proteolytic activities in Bacillus
Current Opinion in Biotechnology, 1991Major advances have been made in understanding the regulation of expression of Bacillus subtilis protease genes. A phosphorelay mechanism as well as a two-component regulatory system allow conditions of the growth medium to be transmitted to the gene level resulting in expression of extracellular protease genes.

Proteolytic activity of chorioamniotic membranes
Biochemical Medicine, 1982Abstract The various forms of proteinases in the chorioamniotic membranes (CAM) have been investigated utilizing specific and nonspecific substrates and group-specific inhibitors. We have demonstrated the presence of acid, serine, thiol, and metalloproteinases in CAM.

Proteolytic activity in the insulin receptor
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1988When a highly purified preparation of rat liver insulin receptor is incubated with trypsin, the receptor develops hydrolytic activity towards N alpha-benzoyl-L-arginine ethyl ester, N alpha-p-tosyl-L-arginine methyl ester, and N alpha-benzoyl-DL-arginine-p-nitroanilide, (compounds which are synthetic substrates of trypsin).

Proteolytic and polymerase activity of thrombin
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1960In addition to splitting peptides from fibrinogen, thrombin is necessary for the polymerization of fibrin monomer. Thrombin also uses fibrin as a substrate and eventually the clot may lyse. On the basis of these views, previous equations used to outline the events when thrombin and fibrinogen are mixed can be revised as follows: Proteolysis: F + T ⇆ f

Proteolytic activity of bovine lactoferrin
Biometals, 2004Bovine lactoferrin catalyzes the hydrolysis of synthetic substrates (i.e., Z-aminoacyl-7-amido-4-methylcoumarin). Values of Km and kcat for the bovine lactoferrin catalyzed hydrolysis of Z-Phe-Arg-7-amido-4-methylcoumarin are 50 microM and 0.03 s(-1), respectively, the optimum pH value is 7.5 at 25 degrees C.

Activities of proteolytic enzymes
2011Proteases, also known as proteinases or proteolytic enzymes, are a large group of hydrolases that catalyze the cleavage of peptide bonds in proteins to produce peptides and/or amino acids. Classification of proteolytic enzymes is based on three major criteria: type of reaction catalyzed, functional group of the active site, and type of molecular ...

PROTEOLYTIC ACTIVITIES THAT MEDIATE APOPTOSIS
Annual Review of Physiology, 1998▪ Abstract Since the discovery that cells can activate their own suicide program, investigators have attempted to determine whether the events that are associated with this form of cell death are genetically determined. The discovery that the ced-3 gene of Caenorhabditis elegans encodes a cysteine protease essential for developmentally regulated ...
