Expression of Proto-Oncogene cFMS Protein in Lung, Breast, and Ovarian Cancers

Applied Immunohistochemistry & Molecular Morphology, 2014
We performed immunohistochemistry for macrophage colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (also known as c-fms proto-oncogene product) on tissue microarrays of human nontumor lung, pulmonary squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) and adenocarcinomas (ADC), and breast and ovarian carcinomas using a commercially available anti-cFMS antibody.

The Unp proto-oncogene encodes a nuclear protein.

Oncogene, 1994
The mouse Unp gene is related to TRE17, a human oncogene, but is not its mouse homolog. Unp is a ubiquitously expressed gene producing two related mRNAs. The protein product of Unp is localized in the nucleus. Expression of Unp from a highly active promoter results in tumorigenic transformation of NIH3T3 cells injected into athymic mice.

Fatty acids as natural specific inhibitors of the proto-oncogenic protein Shp2

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2011
Src homology-2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase (Shp2), a novel proto-oncogenic protein, is an important target in cancer therapy research. Approximately 2000 plant extracts were screened to find its natural specific inhibitors, with the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) active extract of the root of Angelica dahurica showing considerable inhibitory ...

A new generation of proto-oncogenes: Cold-inducible RNA binding proteins

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Reviews on Cancer, 2010
This review focuses on the roles of two major cold-inducible RNA binding proteins known in human cells: CIRP and RBM3. Both proteins were discovered when they were shown to be induced after exposure to a moderate cold-shock and other cellular stresses such as UV radiation and hypoxia.

Interleukin-1 activation of FOS proto-oncogene protein in the rat hypothalamus

Brain Research, 1993
The activation of FOS proto-oncogene protein has been used as an anatomical marker of activated brain areas. Immunocytochemical detection of FOS can provide information about the sites of action of extracellular stimuli, in spite of the relative absence of specific receptors, at the level of single cell resolution. Following the intracerebroventricular

Estrogen regulation of proto-oncogenes coding for nuclear proteins.

Critical reviews in oncogenesis, 1993
Estrogen hormones are known to exert a complex influence on development and function of the female reproductive organs of vertebrates by regulating cell growth and differentiation, as well as to be implicated in oncogenesis and maintenance of tumor growth.

Expression of Proto-Oncogenes and Protein Kinases in the Testis

1992
Specificity of expression is regarded as a strong indication that genes play a role in determining the phenotype or function of the cells in which they are expressed. A molecular genetic approach to understanding the control of male germ cell differentiation involves, in part, identifying genes that are expressed in a spermatogenic cell type-specific ...

Proto-oncogenic properties of the DP family of proteins.

Oncogene, 1995
The cellular transcription factor DRTF1/E2F is implicated in the control of cellular proliferation due to its interaction with key regulators of cell cycle progression, such as the retinoblastoma tumour suppressor gene product, cyclins and cyclin-dependent kinases.

Biosynthesis of the protein encoded by the c-met proto-oncogene.

Oncogene, 1989
The proto-oncogene c-met encodes a transmembrane protein with structural features of a growth factor receptor. We have previously shown that the c-met protein (c-Met) is a heterodimer of two disulphide linked chains of 50 kd (alpha) and 145 kd (beta).

Expression of ras proto-oncogene proteins in normal human tissues.

Oncogene, 1988
The expression of ras proto-oncogenes in normal human tissues was studied by immunohistochemical staining and by immunoblotting using monoclonal antibodies. We detected p21ras protein in almost every fetal and adult tissue, but the level varied significantly among cell types.
