Assessment of a Therapeutic X-ray Radiation Dose Measurement System Based on a Flexible Copper Indium Gallium Selenide Solar Cell

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Several detectors have been developed to measure radiation doses during radiotherapy. However, most detectors are not flexible. Consequently, the airgaps between the patient surface and detector could reduce the measurement accuracy.

Transverse spin effects in proton-proton scattering and $Q \bar Q$ production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We discuss transverse spin effects caused by the spin-flip part of the Pomeron coupling with the proton. The predicted spin asymmetries in proton-proton scattering and QQ production in proton-proton and lepton-proton reactions are not small and can be studied in future polarized experiments.

Proton Radiobiology [PDF]

open access: yesCancers, 2015
In addition to the physical advantages (Bragg peak), the use of charged particles in cancer therapy can be associated with distinct biological effects compared to X-rays. While heavy ions (densely ionizing radiation) are known to have an energy- and charge-dependent increased Relative Biological Effectiveness (RBE), protons should not be very ...

The Energy-Dependent Black-Disk Fraction in Proton-Proton Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. D 98, 094009 (2018), 2018
Recent work by Block et al on the energy-invariant edge in proton-proton scattering is interpreted by quantitatively introducing a energy-dependent black-disk fraction of the proton-proton interaction.

Search for sphalerons in proton-proton collisions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2016
In a recent paper, Tye and Wong (TW) have argued that sphaleron-induced transitions in high-energy proton-proton collisions should be enhanced compared to previous calculations, based on a construction of a Bloch wave function in the periodic sphaleron potential and the corresponding pass band structure.

Long-term results of a phase II study of hypofractionated proton therapy for prostate cancer: moderate versus extreme hypofractionation

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2019
Background We performed a prospective phase II study to compare acute toxicity among five different hypofractionated schedules using proton therapy. This study was an exploratory analysis to investigate the secondary end-point of biochemical failure-free

Proton Shell Structure [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We study the internal structure of the proton and propose a shell structure model of the proton. Based on the mass distribution and mass radius of proton we analyze the experiments at different energy scales and conclude that there should be shell structure inside proton, and the quark and gluon shells are energy-scale-dependent.

Determining the inelastic proton-proton cross section at the Large Hadron Collider using minimum bias events [PDF]

open access: yesEur.Phys.J.C51:1009-1012,2007, 2007
Described in this paper is a new method for determining the non-diffractive part of the inelastic proton-proton cross section, at the LHC centre of mass energy of 14TeV. The method is based on counting the number of inelastic proton-proton interactions in the collision regions.

Performance of electron reconstruction and selection with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The performance and strategies used in electron reconstruction and selection at CMS are presented based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1, collected in proton-proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV at the CERN LHC. The paper focuses

Acceleration of electrons in the plasma wakefield of a proton bunch [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2018
High-energy particle accelerators have been crucial in providing a deeper understanding of fundamental particles and the forces that govern their interactions.
