LET measurements in proton and helium‐ion beams of therapeutic energies using a silicon pixel detector towards a tool for quality assurance

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Background As advanced treatment plans increasingly include optimizing both dose and linear energy transfer (LET), there is a growing demand for tools to measure LET in clinical settings. Although various detection systems have been investigated in this pursuit, the scarcity of detectors capable of providing per‐ion data for a fast and ...

Quality assurance and reporting for FLASH clinical trials: The experience of the FEATHER trial

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Background Research on ultra‐high dose rate (UHDR) radiation therapy has indicated its potential to spare normal tissue while maintaining equivalent tumor control compared to conventional treatments. First clinical trials are underway. The randomized phase II/III FEATHER clinical trial at the Paul Scherrer Institute in collaboration with the ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Co(II), Cu(II), and Ni(II) Complexes of 2,2′‐Bipyridine‐4,4′‐Dicarboxamide Ligands: Antibacterial Evaluation Against Resistant Bacteria and Enzyme Inhibition

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2025.
Two new 2,2′‐bipyridine‐4,4′‐dicarboxamide ligands and their Co(II), Cu(II), and Ni(II) complexes are synthesized and characterized. The L2‐Co complex shows strong antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Local Control and Toxicity Outcomes After Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Metastatic Osteosarcoma in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 72, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric osteosarcoma is an aggressive bone malignancy that presents significant challenges due to high rates of metastatic disease and relapse. It is often treated with palliative radiotherapy for symptom control, but achieving definitive local control (LC) with radiotherapy alone is challenging given its radioresistance.
